About Me
Welcome to my colorful corner of the internet! I grew up in Edmonds, studied at UW, worked mainly in human resources and management. Thanks to my wonderfully creative family, I have been surrounded by artistic inspiration all my life. I watched with focus and awe as my Papa turned a pile of wood into a boat; My Mom turned fabric into beautiful clothes and linens; And as my Auntie sketched, painted and turned a pile of beads and wire into precious heirlooms. I vividly recall sitting on the dining table covered with newspaper at just four years old, holding a paintbrush for the first time. I brushed sage-colored paint onto a dresser destined for my new baby sister, I felt joy, transforming something ordinary into something special.
Enter 2020: A global pandemic, an empty nest, political strife worthy of its own reality show, and menopause knocking at my door like an uninvited guest (Yeah, I said it). I found some peace through a paint brush. For the past five years, I've thrown myself headfirst into the worlds of watercolor and acrylic painting—through lessons, classes, retreats, workshops, community and even the lesser seen business of the arts.
My style? Of course it's ever evolving, but for now, think surprising colors that dance between impressionism and abstraction—like a funky party on canvas! As an emerging artist, many of my paintings were influenced by and completed under the instruction of Betty Franks Art and Ali Kay Studio. I'm grateful for the support and confidence that was built within these communities, all these experiences are helping to shape my own unique style.
Thanks for stopping by to learn more about me, and I hope you find something here that makes you smile or inspires your own creativity.
Warmest Regards, Amelia
